Oco. Inc. Appoints Industry Luminary as Chief Technology Officer
Recognized Software-as-a-Service and Scalable Computing Expert Mike Beckerle Joins the Management Team
WALTHAM, Mass. - Jan. 15, 2008 - Oco, Inc., a leading Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider of business intelligence (BI) and data integration
solutions, announced today that Mike Beckerle has joined the company as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this role, Beckerle will define the
strategic direction for Oco’s world-class technologies, manage the technology development and infrastructure development, and be an integral
part of the senior management team.
"We are thrilled that a technical leader with Mike’s credentials has chosen to join Oco," said Oco’s president and chief executive
officer, William Copacino. "With more than 20 years of strong technical leadership experience in advanced technology and scalable computing, Mike is
a perfect choice to lead our technical team to the next level. He will be instrumental in driving Oco’s efforts to continue to bring
world-class technologies and capabilities to the mid-market at a vastly lower price point than traditional BI solutions. Our customers will directly
benefit from Mike’s deep technical knowledge of data integration and warehousing, Software-as-a-Service, and scalable computing." Copacino
added, "Attracting such top-notch talent has provided further validation of Oco’s differentiated capabilities in business intelligence and
data integration."
Prior to joining Oco, Beckerle was at IBM where he was the senior architect for the core scalable processing capabilities in the IBM Information
Server (formerly Ascential DataStage). He joined IBM when it acquired Ascential Software, where he was Chief Scientist, and joined Ascential when it
acquired his startup company, Torrent Systems. He initially created Torrent System’s scalable computing technology, bringing scientific
parallel computing capabilities to the business market. Beckerle has first-hand knowledge of the SaaS approach from a previous start-up he
co-founded to deliver an Internet-based information service.
Beckerle has served as co-chair for the Data Format Description Language (DFDL) standard workgroup, and on the ANSI X3J13 standard for the Common
Lisp programming language. He earned his master’s in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from M.I.T., and his bachelor’s degree
in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario. He is a named inventor on eight patents.
"I was thinking about how to bring robust business intelligence capability to the market with the speed and cost effectiveness of the SaaS model
when I discovered Oco," stated Beckerle. "There had to be a faster and better way to provide visibility into key business data to users throughout
an organization, without all of the pain, cost, expense, and risk traditionally associated with business intelligence or data integration projects."
He continued, "Oco is the real deal - we have the technology, process and methodology, solutions, customers, and team - to do what we guarantee,
business intelligence up and running in weeks."
